The mother of political activist Amira Bouraoui, at the heart of a diplomatic incident between Algeria and France, was released and placed under judicial supervision a week after her arrest in Algiers, an NGO said on Monday.

The mother of the activist, Khadidja Bouraoui, 71, arrested in Algiers on February 11, was released and placed under judicial supervision by order of the criminal court of Constantine (east), the National Committee for the Liberation of Detainees (National Committee for the Liberation of Detainees) said on Monday. The same court, on the other hand, issued in the context of this affair a warrant of committal against a journalist, Mustapha Bendjama, arrested on February 8, and a cousin of Amira Bouraoui, Yacine Bentayeb, added the CNLD.
