It does not yet have a casting and a broadcast date, but the Alien series is well and truly under construction. Its creator, Noah Hawley, is first in charge of the fifth season of Fargo, before delving into this story derived from the film by Ridley Scott. The boss of the FX chain, John Landgraf, nevertheless revealed important information: Ripley, the heroine played by Sigourney Weaver, will be absent from the plot.

The reason is simple. The program will be set in the 2090s, at the same time as Prometheus and 30 years before the events of the very first Alien. “No other known characters will appear in the seriesinsists John Landgraf. As for FargoNoah [Hawley] will remain faithful to the spirit of the films of Ridley Scott and James Cameron, while offering something new. It’s both a reinvention and an extension of the franchise.”

Thought as a series of 8 to 10 hours, Alien will take place on planet Earth. In one of his last speeches, the boss of the channel revealed that the program is a tribute to the horrific style of the first film and the action scenes of the second.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Ridley Scott has previously spoken about the series, saying it “can never be better than the original movie”. To judge, it will take a little patience.
