Alienware releases a second, more affordable QD-Oled monitor

Alienware’s new QD-Oled monitor is called AW3423DWF while the model currently on sale is called AW3423DW. The “F” in the product name means it’s actually a FreeSync version that skips G-Sync certification. The design is also different since the glossy white plastic present on the back of the first Alienware QD-Oled monitor is replaced by a more discreet matte black plastic.

The Alienware AW3423DWF obviously retains the same curved QD-Oled panel (1800R) of 34 inches displaying a definition UWQHD (3440 x 1440 pixels), a response time of 0.1 ms, viewing angles of 178°, a maximum brightness of 1000 cd/m² in HDR and infinite contrast. The only difference is the refresh rate which is limited to 165Hz compared to 175Hz for the G-Sync version, which shouldn’t make a big difference in practice. The connection is also slightly different since the Alienware AW3423DWF has an HDMI 2.0 input and two DisplayPort against two HDMI and a DisplayPort for the AW3423DW (G-Sync).

If we haven’t tested it yet, the Alienware AW3423DWF probably remains the best in terms of PC monitors thanks to HDR rendering unmatched by other models and a response time of 0.1 ms than only Oled (and QD-Oled) technology can offer.

The Alienware AW3423DWF will be available this fall in the United States for a price of around $1100, which is $200 less than the Alienware AW3423DW (G-Sync) priced around $1300. Availability and pricing for Europe will be announced later.
