Ranked 58th in the WTA, the young 19-year-old woke up too late in this meeting to endanger the Frenchwoman. Aliz Cornet easily won the first round 6-3 before having to fight in the second (7-6). Pushed to the tie-break, the Frenchwoman left no chance to win again on American soil. In the next round, she will be opposed to the winner of the poster between the Chinese Shuai Zhang and the Italian Martina Trevisan, seeded number 2 of the tournament.
