How the pricing table works

The LG 55C1, which recently made it into our guide to the best 55-inch 4K TVs for its very good value for money, is one of the best OLED TVs on the market. Launched at €1,700, it is now quite easily found around €1,000-1,100, which makes it an ideal choice for discovering all the advantages offered by OLED technology: infinite contrast, vibrant colors, very wide viewing angles.
To preserve this image quality, LG has integrated into all its OLED TVs several functions intended to prevent marking and image retention problems. One of them is particularly interesting because it runs in the background without the user having to worry about it. It’s about “Pixel cleaning” who “automatically detects pixel deterioration through periodic scanning and compensates for it if necessary“, says LG.

Do not unplug your LG 55C1 during the operation

“Pixel Cleanup” kicks in after four hours of cumulative use, when the TV is put into standby. The operation takes place in the background and can take up to seven minutes. During this period, you must leave the television on standby and above all do not cut off the power by unplugging the mains socket or the power strip to which it is connected. When complete, the counter is reset for the next maintenance routine. It is also possible to manually launch a pixel refresh if an image retention phenomenon is observed.

Finally, be aware that your LG 55C1 (or any other LG Oled TV) will perform this same operation more thoroughly when it has totaled 2000 hours of use. The “Pixel Cleaner” will run for about an hour. During this time, vertical lines may appear on the screen. Don’t worry, it’s part of the process that shouldn’t be interrupted.

The television also detects fixed logos and lowers their brightness to avoid marking on this area.
