IWe must be wary of the misleading appearances of the Christian Democrat Manfred Weber, elected on Tuesday as President of the EPP (the European Christian Democrats). He does not speak loudly, most often tries to smooth things over and avoids taking any blows as much as possible in the battles that cross his group in the European Parliament. There is no tinsel in this man who presents himself as a humble servant of the European cause, a “bridgebuilder”as they say in the current globish in Brussels.
