“All said no”, these artists who refused to sign the column defending the actor

In an interview with Paris Match, Sophie Marceau reacts once again to the Gérard Depardieu affair. The actress joins forces with François Berléand to denounce the actor’s odious behavior and to comment on the platform signed by around fifty actors to defend the man who is accused of rape and sexual assault.

On December 25, a column published in the newspaper Le Figaro was signed by more than 50 public figures to openly support Gérard Depardieu. A petition that shocked public opinion and several other celebrities such as the actress from the series Clem, Lucie Lucas and Sophie Marceau. The latter spoke to reveal that she kept very bad memories of her collaboration with Gérard Depardieu on the set of the film Police in 1985 when she was only 18 years old.

This Thursday, December 28, 2023, the actress speaks again in the columns of Paris Match. “I said publicly at the time that I couldn’t stand his attitude, rude and very inappropriate. Many people then turned against me, making me look like a little pest. And I always refused films with him afterwards. Whether you are Gérard Depardieu or Maurice Pialatyou don’t treat people like that, period.” she declares.

Support for Gérard Depardieu: these personalities who refused to sign the platform

Actor François Berléand joins her to analyze the situation : “I notice that none of the actresses who emerged at the same time as him condemn him.” Enough to make Sophie Marceau react, who then launches:Oh but, he didn’t attack the great actresses, rather to the little helpers…. Vulgarity and provocation have always been his stock in trade.”

Fortunately, Lucie Lucas, Sophie Marceau and François Berléand are not the only ones to have refused to sign the platform. In the columns of Parisianthe creator of the platform himself, Yannis Ezziadi, claims that several actors refused to sign the petition, for fear of repercussions on their careers: “Many of them were discouraged by their agents or lawyers.”

We then discover that it is mainly the actors and actresses of the new generation of French cinema who have rejected the idea : “I contacted around ten young actors. But they all said no. Either because they are very pro-Me Too, or because they don’t want to have problems” he concluded.
