All the Star Wars video games that are planned by the studios

Several Star Wars video games are in development. There are so many that it is easy to get lost.

For a long time, Electronic Arts took care of everything in terms of video game adaptation of the saga Star Wars . In recent years, we have been able to enjoy games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order or Star Wars: Squadrons. Today, the American publisher is still involved in the empire Star Warsbut it is no longer the only player in the industry who can develop video games under license.

Indeed, Disney has decided to review the gaming strategy articulated around the brand. Star Wars, with the aim of multiplying projects to attract fans who are just asking for it. The multinational even founded a Lucasfilm Games label. ” EA has been and will continue to be an important partner for us in the future. But we think there’s room for more “, revealed Sean Shoptaw, vice president of the department centered on the games within Disney, in an interview granted to Wired in January 2021.

Since this paradigm shift, Disney has been piling up Star Wars video game announcements. There are currently six in development, with no very clear release period for each.

Star Wars games at Electronic Arts

If many thought that Electronic Arts would definitely turn away from the Star Wars saga, the company quickly showed the opposite. In a tweet posted on January 13, 2021, she indicated that she had ” looking forward to continuing the partnership with Lucasfilm Games “, then promising several titles.

A year later, Electronic Arts formalized the arrival of no less than three new Star Wars experiences. And there will be something for everyone:

  • Following Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderan action and adventure game with a bit of narration;
  • A new first-person shooter, with still vague outlines (strong multiplayer orientation or not?);
  • A strategy game that may bring back happy memories to fans of Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds.

The first two projects were entrusted to Respawn Entertainment, a versatile studio to which we owe Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Apex: Legends. The third, on the other hand, is designed by Bit Reactor, made up of former employees of Firaxis Games (a structure specializing in strategy).

Star Wars games at Ubisoft

As soon as the Lucasfilm Games label was announced, we discovered the existence of an ambitious adaptation supervised by Ubisoft. ” The Star Wars universe is an incredible source of motivation for our teams to innovate and push the limits of our industry. Imagining new worlds, new characters and new stories that will enrich this universe is a great opportunity for us. “, rejoiced Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, at the time of the formalization in January 2021.

Massive Entertainment is in charge of the development. The studio, notably known for the excellent The Division 2proved that he knew how to do it with the cult licenses (example: the very appreciated South Park: The Fractured but Whole), knowing that he is also working on an Avatar video game. Note that we don’t know anything about the game, except that it will be an open world experience.

Star Wars games at Quantic Dream

Ubisoft will not be Disney’s only French partner working on Star Wars adaptations. At The Game Awards 2021 ceremony, Quantic Dream revealed Star Wars Eclipse. Knowing the studio’s liabilities, the focus will be on storytelling. A first trailer is already available, and it gives some chills. Articulated around a cast bringing together several important characters, star wars eclipse will take place during the era of the High Republic (i.e. years before the prelogy).

Star Wars Games At Skydance New Media

Studio led by Amy Hennig (screenwriter and creative director of the first Uncharted), Skydance New Media announced, in a press release published on April 19, the start of construction of a video game set in the Star Wars galaxy. The genre is already known – action/adventure – and we are promised both an original story and a very cinematic staging (like… Uncharted).

For the record, Amy Hennig went through Electronic Arts to develop a Star Wars video game that never saw the light of day. For her, it is therefore a revenge.
