American character actor Allan Rich is dead. He died in a retirement home at the age of 94.
The US actor Allan Rich (1926-2020) died on Saturday at the age of 94 in an assisted living home in the US city of Englewood, New Jersey. The industry magazine "The Hollywood Reporter" reports, citing his family. The long-time actor had therefore suffered from advanced dementia.

Rich made his Broadway debut in 1943. In the 1950s, however, he was branded a communist and ended up on Hollywood's blacklist – his career seemed over. The actor was able to fight his way back and get roles in films such as Sidney Lumet's "Serpico" (1973), Robert Redford's "Quiz Show" (1994) and Steven Spielberg's "Amistad" (1997).
According to the report, the American was married to his wife Elaine for 62 years, who died in 2015. He leaves behind his son David, his daughter Marian and his two grandchildren Julia and Ruby.
