The allegation of rape is still in the room: Once again, singer Melissa Schuman wants to take Nick Carter to court.

Actually, this matter seemed to have been clarified for years, but once again Backstreet Boy Nick Carter (43) is confronted with massive allegations from singer Melissa Schuman (38): According to US media, the former Dream member wants to try again that Carter before accountable to a court. Her allegation: Carter first forced her to have oral sex and then forced her to have sex in 2002 when she was 18 and he was 22.

Schuman made these allegations around five years ago, but at the time the Los Angeles Attorney’s Office decided not to bring formal charges against Carter. The reason: The incident was statute-barred. Now, however, a change in the law in this regard has again opened up the possibility for the singer to take legal action against Carter, writes about “TMZ”. This change, according to the alleged argument of Schuman’s legal adviser, would allow the accusation to be brought to prosecution again.

Carter’s Lawyer: “Lawsuit is a PR Stunt”

It is not yet clear whether this will actually happen. “TMZ” quotes the lawyer of the Backstreet Boys star, Liane K. Wakayama, stating, “Melissa Schuman has been telling this fairy tale for many years. But her accusation was wrong when she first made it in 2017 – and it still is.” On the contrary, a judge recently ruled that Carter’s counterclaim for defamation was justified, it said.

Carter recently sued Schuman and another woman who is making very similar allegations against him for millions. Accordingly, the two women had conspired together to “discredit Nick Carter, his employees, friends and family”. Wakayama describes Schuman’s renewed lawsuit as a “PR stunt”. Her client now wants to do everything possible to finally clear his name and “to hold Mrs Schuman and her co-conspirators accountable for all the suffering”.
