Alone in the Dark is a failure, it’s official

Develop a remake ofAlone in the DarkA survival horror cult originally released in 1992 had all the makings of a good idea. Unfortunately, THQ Nordic And Interactive Pieces failed to honor Frédérick Reynal’s titlethe ratings from the English-speaking press were far from positive.

The studios have never revealed sales figures, but in its latest financial statement, THQ Nordic admit failure. The remake of survival horror didn’t sell well, just like the sequel to an old adventure game, the publisher says:

Both Alone in the Dark and Outcast: A New Beginning received positive reception from users, but mixed reception from critics and ultimately earned results below management’s expectations.

The development studio Interactive Pieces has already suffered layoffs, a sign that the title has not recouped its costs. THQ Nordic still adds that titles like Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, South Park: Snow Day!, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor And Lightyear Frontier have sold well, despite not always laudatory reviews, but everything is not to be thrown away. The remastered compilation with Lara Croft will also be entitled to a physical edition, available for pre-order against €34.99 on Amazon.
