In the Villeneuve-Niozelles sector, where the fire covered 245 hectares, the firefighters continued in the evening to treat the particularly active right flank of the fire which is also virulent in its center. About 170 firefighters from Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhône are mobilized on this fire with the support of a water bomber helicopter until nightfall.

80 kilometers to the east, towards the town of Rougon, another still active fire has already covered 868 hectares, the severe drought and the rugged terrain favoring its progression. Some 154 firefighters and soldiers are on the scene. During the day, they received the support of national means, in particular two Canadairs. In addition to the mega-fires in Gironde, several fires also affected the south-east of France this summer, hit by a historic drought, with in particular 1600 hectares going up in smoke south of Avignon in mid-July. At the end of June, 1800 hectares had also burned on the French army training camp in Canjuers (Var), located not far from there.
