Alpes-Maritimes: RM 2205, in the Tinée valley, reopened to traffic after landslide relief work


A rock block of around 40 m3 had torn from the mountain on Friday afternoon, crashing on the Tinée road, the main access route for the ski resorts of Isola 2000 and Auron.

Following a landslide on Friday on the RM 2205, in the Tinée valley, causing traffic to be cut off in both directions at Rimplas, several elected officials of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, including its deputy president and mayor of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Joseph Segura, went to the site on Sunday morning to monitor the work carried out and coordinate the response of the metropolitan services. “RM 2205 will remain closed to traffic in both directions today and until further notice”, the Metropolis quickly announced in a press release. The road was finally reopened to traffic on Monday at 4:30 p.m. after teams mobilized to carry out emergency purge work.

In fact, it was a rocky block of about 40 m3 which had been torn from the mountain, crashing on the Tinée road, the main access route for the ski resorts of Isola 2000 and Auron. Diversions had been set up by the RM 2565 (Vallée de la Vésubie) via Saint-Martin-Vésubie and Colmiane or by the RD28 (Vallée du Cians), then by the Col de la Couillole (RD and RM30) until in Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinee. Access to the stations remains possible via these routes.
