Alphabet: Nokia partner in network slicing

(CercleFinance.com) – Resulting from a collaboration with Google, Nokia announces today that it has successfully tested an innovative feature based on the cutting of 4G/5G networks into slices, via the so-called ‘URSP’ technology (EU Route Selection Policy ) and Google Pixel 6 (Pro) phones running Android 13.

The trial was conducted at Nokia’s Network Slicing Development Center in Tampere, Finland.

The tested solution allows a smartphone to simultaneously connect its applications – professional or consumer – to several network slices, depending on the specific needs of the subscriber.

Very concretely, a client company can for example send sensitive information to another company using a secure network slice, while simultaneously participating in a video call on another slice.

URSP capabilities extend network slicing to new types of applications and use cases, allowing network slices to be customized based on network performance, traffic routing, latency, and security .
