Alpine A290: the sports version of the electric Renault 5 will be revealed on June 13

Alpine is destined to become a manufacturer of electric cars only in 2026. To do this, the Renault group’s sports brand is developing a range of trendy models called Dream Garage, the first representative of which will be a sports version of the Renault 5 E-Tech.

We already knew its name, A290, and Alpine is now announcing the date of its presentation. The model will be revealed on June 13, 2024, on the sidelines of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The brand is also releasing a new teaser, which doesn’t reveal much more than the photos already shared.

What about the technical sheet?

It remains to discover the technical sheet of this A290, which we already know that it will not exceed 1500 kg, at least in its basic version.

The proposed engines remain unknown for the moment. As a reminder, the electric R5 is front-wheel drive, which does not prevent us from hoping for a more radical version of the Alpine A290 with two motors, therefore 4×4.

Finally, Alpine has already revealed the steering wheel of its sporty electric city car, as well as a few other photos of its prototypes in action.

After the presentation of the A290, Alpine will replace the thermal A110 with an electric model in 2026. The brand is also planning a string of more or less imposing SUVs, as well as a four-seater coupe descending from the A310.
