A large automobile manufacturer intends to sell only electrified vehicles on the first markets as early as next year. Volvo cars with a pure combustion engine will therefore no longer exist. We have summarized the details of this step here.
Electromobility continues its triumphal march. With Volvo, a first manufacturer is now taking another important step and will no longer sell pure combustion engines in the USA from 2023, as “CNET” reports.
All new cars offered there will be electrified in some way. Volvo will offer pure electric cars, simple hybrids and plug-in hybrids. This means that customers can continue to drive with petrol if they wish.
Switch to e-mobility: Measure only an intermediate step
Some time ago, Volvo announced that it would no longer offer vehicles with combustion engines by 2030. The current measure is therefore only an intermediate step.
Volvo has also announced that the Google-based infotainment system will be integrated into all vehicles in the future. That means all new cars can get over-the-air updates. One downside, however, is that the new system still appears to lack support for Apple CarPlay.
