E-BOOK READER

With its color display, the recently announced PocketBook Era Color is already superior to Amazon’s Kindle. You can now pre-order the premium e-book reader.

With 32 gigabytes, the PocketBook Era Color has enough storage space for numerous eBooks and audio content.

  • With the Era Color, PocketBook is introducing a new e-reader with a color display.
  • The device has 32 GB of memory, supports many formats and costs 259 euros.
  • The premium class e-reader will go on sale in mid-April.

At the recently concluded Leipzig Book Fair, PocketBook presented a new e-reader: the PocketBook Era Color. It is an e-book reader in the premium segment that wants to impress above all with its E-Ink Kaleido 3 color screen, but also with many compatible formats.

The Era Color can display over 4,000 colors, a few 1,000 more than Amazon’s Kindle devices. Amazon is also said to be working on e-readers with color displays, but these are not yet commercially available.

The PocketBook Era Color also has an integrated speaker, water protection (IPX8), smart light for pleasant screen lighting and text-to-speech function.

The display is 7 inches in size and offers an image resolution of 1,264 x 1,680 pixels in black and white mode and a resolution of 632 x 840 pixels in color mode. The e-book reader supports a total of 25 formats, including 6 audio book and music formats. PocketBook reveals further special features in the official press release:

PocketBook Era Color: More features

  • 32 gigabytes of internal storage space
  • Kindle formats such as AZW and AZW3 compatible as long as they are not copy protected
  • integrated quad-core processor
  • Large selection of dictionaries with 11 pre-installed language combinations
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi, PocketBook Cloud and Dropbox for quick shopping
  • Library management and synchronization with other devices
  • Dimensions: 13.4 × 15.5 × 0.79 centimeters

However, the PocketBook Era Color also has its price and at 259 euros it is significantly more expensive than many Kindle models. It is therefore primarily suitable for anyone who does not want to make any compromises when it comes to the quality and functionality of their e-book reader. If you’re just looking for a cheap reader, you’re still better off with a Kindle.
