UA man, residing in Ostwald in the Bas-Rhin, had killed his daughter in his bed in December 2020. He had strangled the girl, then 7 years old, to death. This in order to take revenge for a supposed extramarital relationship lent to his companion. The Bas-Rhin Assize Court sentenced him on Wednesday May 10 to 30 years in prison. Two days of trial will have been enough to pronounce the sentence of the accused, now 47 years old. However, he escaped the penalty of life imprisonment, the jurors of the Assize Court having determined an alteration of discernment, cause of partial criminal irresponsibility.
“I wanted him to be seen as a man in court. Even if his act was monstrous because of his pathological condition, he was not a monster, “said his lawyer, Mr.e Clement Pialat.
A pathological jealousy
He spoke of the “pathological jealousy” of his client, who presented a “paranoid syndrome pushed to its climax”. “I asked for him to be tried as a human being. The fact that the Assize Court recognized his pathological condition made it possible to restore his dignity,” he added.
