(CercleFinance.com) – Alstom announces the signing of a new order with Irish Rail (IE) for the delivery of 18 additional five-car X’trapolis trains.
In addition, the manufacturer announces a 15-year extension of the technical assistance and spare parts supply agreement (TSSSA), as part of the ten-year framework agreement announced in December 2021.
This additional order for 18 Battery Electric Multiple Units (BEMUs), worth approximately €160 million, will come on top of the initial firm order for 19 five-car X’trapolis trains, including thirteen electric trains battery and six electric trains, passed in 2021.
In total, Irish Rail’s order now stands for 37 five-car X’trapolis trains. ‘These trains will provide more capacity and decarbonisation benefits ahead of the electrification of the DART+ wide area network,’ says Alstom.
