Alstom: presented a new battery-powered train in Germany – 08/22/2023 at 16:42


(CercleFinance.com) – Alstom and the transport authority of Central Saxony, Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS), presented yesterday in Chemnitz, Germany, the new battery train developed by Alstom.

A total of eleven Coradia Continental battery-electric trains have been ordered by VMS. These trains will be put into service in 2024 on the Chemnitz – Leipzig line.

“With hydrogen and battery-powered trains, Alstom is able to offer its customers two environmentally friendly alternatives to rail,” said Müslüm Yakisan, President Germany, Austria and Switzerland at Alstom.
