Alstom: restoration of a lake in Bangalore, India


(CercleFinance.com) – In order to remedy the serious water shortage in Bengaluru (India), Alstom announces that it has joined forces with United Way Bangalore to restore the Bidare Agrahara lake in the village of Doddabanahalli.

The restoration increased the water holding capacity of the lake improving the water table and the Dakshina Pinakini River.

Concretely, 25,800 cubic meters of silt and 8,300 cubic meters of sludge were removed, improving water quality. Ecological and social activities, such as the planting of native trees, the creation of a bird island, and the installation of community facilities, were carried out.
