Alstom: signs a contract worth more than 667 ME with Philadelphia

(CercleFinance.com) – Alstom has been selected by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority to deliver 130 full low-floor electric streetcars, valued at more than 667 million euros (approximately $718.2 million).

This contract includes options for the construction of 30 additional trams.

The agreement provides for the delivery of next-generation, fully customized and sustainable Citadis streetcars, specially designed for North America and intended to operate on the historic streets of Philadelphia.

The new Citadis trams offer a 20% reduction in energy consumption compared to a standard tram solution.

“The new Citadis trams will provide a more efficient, accessible and fairer service to the people of metropolitan Philadelphia, as they will replace the current SEPTA fleet which dates back to the 1980s,” said Michael Keroullé, President of Alstom Americas .
