Alstom: slight increase in its operating margin

(AOF) – Alstom’s adjusted operating margin stood at 5.2% for the first half of its 2023/2024 fiscal year, compared to 4.9% in the first half of the previous financial year, online with the trajectory. Profitability was positively impacted by continued progress in ramping up production and realizing planned synergies. Its turnover amounted to 8.3 billion euros for this half-year compared to 8 billion euros a year ago.

This represents an increase of 6.5% on an organic basis and 2.7% on an actual basis, supported by the ramp-up in the Rolling Stock activity, a good performance in Services and Signaling, and the expected catch-up for the Systems activity.

During this first half, Alstom recorded 8.4 billion euros in order intake, compared to 10.1 billion euros during the first half of the previous financial year. The performance of the previous financial year was notably driven by a contract in Germany (Baden-Württemberg), for an amount of nearly 2.5 billion euros.

In addition, Alstom confirmed its objectives for this fiscal year: organic revenue growth above 5% and an adjusted operating margin of around 6%.

The group also expects an increase in its order intake in the second half, in particular thanks to projects won but not yet in force and therefore not recorded, as well as certain orders postponed from the first to the second half of the 2023/24 fiscal year.
