Alstom: the TGV M takes a new step – 09/09/2022 at 15:02

(CercleFinance.com) – SNCF management presented the TGV line of the future, in Alstom’s workshops in La Rochelle.

The TGV M, which has benefited from the know-how of the best experts from Alstom and the Materiel and TGV-Intercités departments of SNCF Voyageurs, will run on the national network in 2024.

Ordered in 115 copies, at the rate of 100 trains in the domestic version and 15 in the international version, this train is characterized by major innovations:

Unprecedented modularity, which makes it possible to adjust the number of cars as closely as possible to market needs; a surface area on board increased by 20%, i.e. a possible offer of up to 740 seats compared to a maximum of 634 today; energy efficiency and an ultra-competitive carbon footprint per traveller; access to scalable connected services that meet the needs of travellers; a very ‘communicative’ trainset whose sensors allow the train to be examined in real time to optimize maintenance and availability and increased accessibility on board, for the benefit of all passengers.

A precise analysis of the compatibility of the TGV M with the network and the stations is carried out everywhere in France and maintenance work has already begun.

Investments of nearly 50 million euros were made in particular in new production lines.

The next big step will be the dynamic testing phase at 200 km/h in Velim (Czech Republic) by the end of 2022.
