(CercleFinance.com) – Alstom will deliver 18 ultra-modern double-deck Coradia Max electric multiple units to DB Regio.
The order includes nine three-car trainsets and nine five-car trainsets, which will be put into service during the transition to winter timetables in December 2027 on the regional express line RE1 Hamburg – Rostock, a busy line in the network ‘Baltic-Alster’ (Ostsee-Alster or OSTA).
After the electrification of the line between Bad Kleinen and Lübeck and the construction of a connecting curve, the trains will also run to Lübeck.
‘Northern Germany is moving towards mobility. With our new double-deck trains, we will help DB Regio to expand its travel offering in the states of Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in a sustainable and modern way,’ said Müslüm Yakisan, President of the Germany, Austria and Switzerland region at Alstom.
