PARIS, Jan. 11 (Reuters) – Alstom announced on Tuesday that it had signed a framework contract worth at least 1.8 billion euros to supply up to 200 trains to Norske Tog, the Norwegian state-owned railway company.

The amount of the first firm order for 30 trains amounts to 380 million euros and the delivery of the new trains will take place in early 2025, the French group said in a press release.

According to Alstom, this is “the most important railway contract in Norwegian history”.

The assembly of the trains for Norske Tog will be carried out at the Alstom site in Salzgitter, Germany and several French sites will be involved in the production of equipment for this project, including those in Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées), Ornans ( Doubs), Villeurbanne (Rhône) and Petit-Quevilly (Seine-Maritime).

On the Paris Stock Exchange, Alstom shares gained 1.66% to 33.62 euros at 10:27 am.
