Altice: fine of 75 ME from the Competition Authority

(CercleFinance.com) – The French Competition Authority announces a global fine of 75 million euros against Altice for the liquidation of penalty payments and non-compliance with injunctions issued in 2017.

For the record, in 2014, the Competition Authority had authorized the takeover of SFR by the company Altice (at the time Numéricable) subject to ‘structural and behavioral commitments’.

Three years later, in 2017, the Autorité sanctioned Altice for not having implemented the commitments it had undertaken to make. A penalty of 40 ME was then pronounced, accompanied by several injunctions, some of which are under penalty.

The Autorité indicates today that it is rendering ‘a decision in which it proceeds to the liquidation of the penalty payments pronounced in its 2017 decision and sanctions Altice for not having correctly executed the injunctions of the Autorité within the time limits’.
