Discovered in the reality TV series Large Families, broadcast Monday to Friday at 9:25 a.m. on TF1, the 34-year-old mother looks back on her conviction for theft, her media coverage and her dreams.
Do you have any news of your trial since your recent statements on the set of Chez Jordan on C8?
AMANDINE PELLISSARD: It hasn’t moved yet. I’m waiting for my appeal hearing date, which will probably be in the fall or winter. I hired a lawyer from Besançon because the events took place in Franche-Comté and we now live in Gard. He will represent me at the hearing.
What do you expect?
At the first judgment, I was sentenced to 6 months in prison and 3 years of probation (pregnant, she had not appeared at the hearing. She appealed, editor’s note). When I got caught, I had just under 200 euros in my shopping cart and they estimated that I had stolen several times. The guard had spotted me at the automatic checkouts.
This was the case ?
Yes, I recognized him. It was late 2016, I was pregnant, we found ourselves in a catastrophic situation overnight, Alex, my husband was fired. I stole food several times, I was not very proud or very comfortable doing that. I’m not looking for excuses but, at the time, I couldn’t find any other solution. You can’t eat pebbles for weeks.
Why did you decide to talk about it?
A correctional hearing is public, it might end up in the press, so I preferred to take the lead and say it myself. I have always preferred to assume my life course even if it is not pleasant. All of these pitfalls have made me the person I am today. Becoming a mother saved my life. Thanks to my (eight) children, I am the best version of myself.
Precisely, how do they live to be exposed for three years?
It was our concern because the children between them are not always very tender. At school, they are nature-painting, they don’t talk about it. They are rather delighted, it amuses them. The whole family takes it as a chance, it has improved our life, our income, I who thought I was drooling all my life! But, to my surprise, we attract a lot of hate, mainly from mothers. They are the most angry. Some are jealous and need to put our heads under water.
How do you envision the sequel?
As we say with my husband, if tomorrow the show stops, it doesn’t matter at all. We have always known how to bounce back. Especially since we anticipated things a little and put some money aside. I would very much like to try myself as a columnist at Cyril Hanouna. He knows it, we talked about it. It’s really something that would suit me, there is no profile like mine in TPMP! and I represent a very large segment of the population that is not represented on these talk shows.
