Amarok’s twin – the new Ford Ranger has become pretty powerful

Ford has introduced the new Ranger. The popular pick-up, which will also form the basis for the VW Amarok in the future, stands out from the current model primarily because of its American-looking front.

It is motorized with a choice of two or three-liter four- or six-cylinder turbo diesels, with a manual six-speed gearbox or ten-speed automatic, as well as with electronically switchable or permanent all-wheel drive. The next generation of models will have five centimeters more wheelbase and one thanks to the front axle that has been moved forward accordingly also five centimeters wider track. This increases the angle of approach and departure and increases the directional stability in the field. The platform has also grown by the same width and is easier to reach via two steps integrated in the rear bumper. There is also a flexible charging management system with eyelets and partitions, and soft-touch materials in the Ranger ensure a significantly upgraded interior. The infotainment system is not only controlled via the ten or twelve inch upright touchscreen, depending on the model, the driving modes are also set. A modem for connectivity is standard equipment; Ford will announce further technical details at a later date. The new Ranger is expected to be available for order in Europe from the end of 2022, and the first copies will be delivered in early 2023. All Ford Rangers in Austria are homologated as trucks. The versions that are sold in Europe continue to roll off the assembly line in South Africa. The pick-up was developed in Australia – hence the right-hand drive in the photos and in the video. aum
