amazement and shock at the Gare du Nord

Police killed a man Monday morning who was threatening officers with a knife at Gare du Nord.

The unions denounced a specific attack on the police. On Monday, a man armed with a 30 centimeter knife who threatened the police, was shot dead by officers on duty. According to the Minister Delegate for Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, interviewed by RMC, the attacker was “a priori someone who is known to the police for wandering in the station”. “Indeed, he continued, he allegedly attacked (the police) with a knife, which led the police to use their weapon.” The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, for his part clarified in a tweet that the police had been attacked “around 7:00 am”, while they were patrolling the station. “The police used their weapon, thus removing any danger, for themselves and for the travelers”.

According to the first information given by the investigators, the suspect’s knife bore the inscription “ACAB” (All cops are bastards, or All the cops are bastards, in French). In a press release, the Alliance union denounced a “premeditated act with the sole aim of killing the cop”.

“This attack on the protectors of the Republic shows once again that today our colleagues are risking their lives on a street corner, the forecourt of a church, or in a daily mission within a train station” , added the union. For its part, the SCPN, which represents and defends the Commissioners of Police, has brought “support and recognition to our police officers who protect. When an armed individual threatens or attacks, if he does not comply, he must be neutralized”. Linda Kebbab, national delegate of SGP Police-FO Unit, wrote: “Cry attack leaving little room for doubt about the hateful nature that animated the author. Defensive fire, neutralization. Courage to you colleagues.”
