Amazon: 9,000 more employees laid off


Amazon continues to cut its workforce. After announcing its intention to lay off 10,000 employees in November 2022, then finally more than 18,000 last January, the American giant is preparing to lay off 9,000 additional employees, announces Andy Jassy, ​​the group’s boss, in a note sent to staff. In less than six months, 27,000 employees have therefore been invited to pack their boxes.

This new cut in the workforce concerns positions in several divisions, in particular Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud branch which is nevertheless the company’s cash cow, Twitch, whose boss has just resigned, the human resources department or the one dedicated to advertising. Andy Jassy cites in particular “the uncertain economy” And “the uncertainty that exists in the near future” as reasons to justify this reduction in teams.
