Amazon: acquisition of the Belgian company Cloostermans

(CercleFinance.com) – Amazon announced on Friday that it had reached an agreement to acquire Cloostermans, a Belgian company specializing in the manufacture of custom automation machines.

In a press release, the e-commerce giant indicates that it has been collaborating with Cloostermans since 2019, the Flemish company having notably helped it to design ‘mechatronic’ systems allowing it to move and stack pallets and heavy loads, but also to pack the products before shipping them to the customer.

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, Amazon merely indicating that Cloostermans now employs nearly 200 people.

Since it began using robots in its warehouses in 2012, Amazon says it has deployed more than 520,000 robotic devices in its logistics centers.
