Amazon Alexa: Create a playlist and add songs – that’s how it works

You probably already know that you can use voice commands to play music on your Echo and other devices via Alexa at any time. But Amazon’s language assistant can do even more: If you wish, Alexa can also create a playlist for you and add songs to it.

A new playlist will then be opened on Amazon Music on command. If you prefer to use Spotify, you can call up your playlists and songs by voice command via Alexa, but creating playlists only works for Amazon’s audio streaming service.

If you are a subscriber to Apple Music, playback via Alexa only works with an additional skill and you also have to do without creating lists and adding songs via Alexa.

How to create a playlist on Amazon Music with Alexa:

1. To enter the command, you must be within earshot of an Alexa device like the Echo and say the wake word. Usually this is “Alexa”, but it can also be “Computer” or “Echo”. The activation of the blue light ring shows you that Alexa is ready for your voice input.
2. With this command you create the new playlist: “Alexa, create a new playlist.”
3. Alexa will now ask you for the name your playlist should have. Replies with the desired title.

To add songs to a playlist:

• First, the desired song must be played. To do this, say, “Alexa, play [Name des Liedes] from [Name der Interpreten]”.
• When the correct song is playing, says, “Alexa, add the song to my playlist [Name der Playlist] added.”
