Amazon: an AI to assist Internet users in their shopping


Like OpenAI with ChatGPT and Google Bard, which recently announced the deployment of Gemini Pro in France, Amazon is also entering the race for generative artificial intelligence. Very recently, the e-commerce giant announced that it was starting to test its new chatbot, the objective of which is to support Internet users in their online shopping.

Rufus, this is the sweet name to which this new chatbot responds. Created by Amazon, it was trained using databases comprising all the products sold on the platform, including all the comments written by buyers. Rufus is able to make suggestions, advise customers, compare products and answer any questions regarding an item.

Currently in beta, this new Amazon-integrated AI will only appear for certain pre-selected users. This first version of Rufus is accessible through the Amazon mobile application, directly in the search bar of the interface. Like ChatGPT or any other artificial intelligence of the same type, the chatbot has a memory that allows it to retain the context of a conversation. As a result, several questions can be asked in a logical sequence, as with a human interlocutor.
