A major operating system update often means more functionality, but it also involves risks. This was shown again recently with an Android update: After users switched to version 12, many apps from the Amazon Appstore simply did not work since the end of November. This was reported by several Android 12 users in the Amazon Digital and Device Forum. Both free and paid apps are affected. Now Amazon has finally released an update for its app store that is supposed to fix the problems. Nevertheless, the difficulties seem to persist for some users, as “The Verge” reports.
It took time to resolve the problem
The first complaints came up in November. But during the shopping frenzy on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the topic was probably not a priority. On November 14th, 2021 the company wrote: “Hello Forum Community! We are very sorry that you all have the problem with the Amazon Appstore on Android 12. Our technical team is aware of the problem. I checked it and they are working still working on the solution. ” On December 18, 2021, an Amazon employee got in touch with the good news: An update for the Amazon Appstore app is available that will solve the problems.
Amazon Appstore: That must be done
First, users should download the update mentioned. You should then log out of the Amazon Appstore once and then log in again. Now it is still necessary to update all downloaded apps from the app store. To do this, open “My Apps” and then click on “Updates”. It takes a lot of effort to touch each app individually. But according to the “lovingboth” account in the Amazon forum, the problem is related to Amazon’s Digital Rights Management (DRM). It is a technology used to control and manage access to copyrighted material. It therefore makes perfect sense that individual apps need to be updated.
Some users still have problems
However, this solution doesn’t seem to fix the problem for everyone. Some users in the Amazon forum report that everything does not work again even after the update. While some of their complete apps still do not appear in the store, others report compatibility error messages when opening individual apps. You contact customers and tell them how they can improve their Appstore experience, so an Amazon spokesman in a statement to “The Verge”. “We apologize for any interruption.”
