(CercleFinance.com) – Amazon reports net profit of $33.4 billion in 2021, up 56% from the previous year. EPS went from $41.83 to $64.81 in the space of a year.
Between 2020 and 2021, Amazon’s EBIT grew from $22.9 billion to $24.9 billion, while net sales grew 22% to $469.8 billion.
In the 4th quarter alone, net profit practically doubled compared to the same period a year earlier, rising from $7.2 billion to $14.3 billion, while net sales increased by 9%, to 137 $.4 billion.
Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, points in particular to the success of AWS, whose year-on-year growth reached 40%, with sales of $71 billion. Amazon aims to launch AWS in 24 zones and 8 additional regions.
For the 1st quarter of 2022, Amazon anticipates net sales of between $112 and 117 billion – or growth of 3 to 8% compared to the 1st quarter of 2021.
