Amazon goes on the podcast offensive: The company has officially confirmed the purchase of the podcast network Wondery.

Amazon expands its podcast portfolio. As the company announced, the podcast network Wondery will soon be integrated into Amazon Music's in-house streaming service.

At the beginning of December, the business magazine "Wall Street Journal" reported that there were talks between Amazon and Wondery. According to the paper, a purchase price of 300 million dollars (the equivalent of around 243 million euros) was in the room. In the announcement, Amazon did not comment on the purchase price. Apparently not all negotiations have been concluded yet. Therefore Amazon Music users will have to be patient a little longer.

Wondery was only founded in 2016 and offers podcasts like "Dr. Death", "Dirty John" or "The Shrink Next Door". According to Amazon, nothing should change for Wondery users as a result of the deal. Users of other platforms such as Spotify or Apple Podcast should also continue to have unrestricted access to the content of Wondery.
