In addition to two speakers and Alexa control, the Amazon Echo Show 8 (2019) also offers an 8-inch (20.3 cm) display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels and a 1-megapixel front camera that can be opened mechanically with a flap can be covered and switched off – this is also the biggest difference to the second generation of the Show 8, which offers a 13 megapixel camera.

Our assessment:
The Amazon Echo Show 8 of the first generation (2019) looks good on a desk or a sideboard. Thanks to the 8-inch display, you can also easily watch films and series, video chats are possible with the help of the 1-megapixel camera, but this is not necessarily the device’s greatest strength. In our practical tests, however, we were able to conduct conversations with a usable quality. The sound is quite good due to the built-in stereo speakers and so the Echo Show 8 (2019) is also suitable for more than just listening to the radio.
