You can access this Lite product without hesitation

With the Fire TV Stick Lite you hardly have to make any compromises compared to the other models. The biggest difference is the remote control, but this doesn’t matter on devices with HDMI-CEC. So if you don’t want to enjoy 4K content, you can buy it here and save a few euros.

We liked that

  • offers all the features of the Fire TV Stick
  • low price

We didn’t like that

  • Amazon account mandatory

current news

With a regular price of 29.99 euros, the Fire TV Stick Lite is Amazon’s cheapest Fire TV Stick to date. On promotional days such as Amazon Prime Day or Black Friday, the price even drops to 20 euros. The competition does not offer such a cheap streaming stick! This makes the purchase tempting, especially since you hardly have to do without anything with the Lite model compared to the other Fire TV Sticks.

What can the Fire TV Stick Lite do?

You can use all the streaming services and apps that are also available on the other Fire TV devices on the inexpensive streaming device from Amazon. The range of functions has not been secretly cut either. So you can also use the Fire TV Stick Lite …

Because technically, the Lite model is almost identical to its big brothers Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick 4K – even the processor is the same as in the other models. So you don’t have to deal with lame menus or long loading times.

Even more: The new Fire TV interface is already being used on the Fire TV Stick Lite, which other Fire TV Sticks are only now receiving via an update. For example, you can access app favorites and create profiles for your Fire TV Stick.

Fire TV Stick Lite and Fire TV Stick: Here’s the difference

But Amazon must have saved somewhere? In fact, there are one or two small differences to the regular Fire TV Stick. You have to live with two things:

  • slimmed down remote control
  • Dolby Atmos is only possible via detours

Fire TV Stick Lite with slimmed down remote control

Amazon includes a model “without TV buttons” with the Fire TV Stick Lite, Amazon writes in the product description. There is therefore no infrared sensor and, accordingly, buttons for switching the television on and off and for adjusting the volume. For this you have to use the original remote control of your TV set.

From our point of view, this is manageable. After all, you save 10 euros compared to the regular Fire TV Stick. If your TV supports “HDMI-CEC”, you can even control the Fire TV Stick Lite entirely with the controls on your TV. If you bought your TV in the last two to three years, chances are good that the standard is supported.

However, the Fire TV Stick Lite remote has a TV button. With this you switch to the live TV area of the streaming stick. Since June 2022, Amazon has also been selling the stick with a new remote control that has buttons for quickly accessing Disney+ or Netflix. These were missing on the first model. Caution: Amazon currently sells both models for the same price. So make sure you buy the newer model!

Fire TV Stick Lite: picture and sound quality

Like this, the Fire TV Stick Lite reproduces image content in maximum Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) and 60 frames per second. It is also theoretically possible to play videos in HDR. However, most HDR televisions already support 4K resolution, so if HDR is important to you, the Fire TV Stick 4K is the better choice. The Fire TV Stick Lite also supports the Dolby Atmos audio standard – but only indirectly via HDMI passthrough. This assumes that your soundbar supports the standard.

The cons of the Fire TV Stick Lite

Since the Fire TV Stick Lite is similar to the other models, it naturally has the same disadvantages as the manufacturer’s other sticks. An Amazon account is required to set up the Fire TV Stick Lite. However, a subscription to Amazon Prime does not.

Furthermore, the memory of the Fire TV Stick is limited to 8 gigabytes. The Fire TV memory can only be expanded in a roundabout way. The stick does not offer an Ethernet port either, but with an adapter you can connect the Fire TV Stick Lite to the network via LAN.
