Amazon will launch a free streaming service in Germany later this year.

Amazon’s free streaming service IMDb TV will be renamed Amazon Freevee on April 27, the company announced. At the same time, the shipping giant announces that Amazon Freevee will also be available in Germany later this year. An exact date for the new competition for Netflix, Apple TV +, Disney + and Co. is not yet known.

The offering was successfully launched in the UK last September and will now continue to expand internationally. In the US, the ad-supported service has tripled its monthly active users in the past two years.

What’s on offer?

As with many other providers, Amazon Freevee also has productions that can be seen exclusively there. The originals include “Bosch: Legacy”, a spin-off of the in-house series “Bosch”, which celebrates its premiere in the USA and Great Britain on May 6th. There is also the comedy series “Jump” by Greg Garcia (52, “My Name Is Earl”).

The release of exclusive films is also planned. This includes the romantic comedy “Love Accidentally” with Brenda Song (34), Aaron O’Connell (36) and Denise Richards (51).
