With the rise of online shopping and working from home since the start of the pandemic, the group’s emissions have thus fallen from 44.4 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year in 2018 to 60.64 million in 2020, an increase of 37% in two years. The 37 new renewable energy projects announced on Wednesday are located in the United States, Spain, France, Australia, Canada, India, Japan and the United Arab Emirates. With these programs, the group will have a total of 134 wind turbine or solar panel sites and 176 photovoltaic roofs. Amazon does not provide details on the financial terms of these projects.
