- There is currently no shortage of new series releases, so you can miss one or two highlights.
- However, you should put “Mrs. Davis” on your watchlist directly on Amazon Prime Video.
- The crazy mix of genres is one of the biggest insider tips of the year.
Countless streaming services offer enough space for numerous creative formats – actually. Release channels may have changed, but film studios still prefer to play it safe and rely on spin-offs, sequels, reboots or loose copies of tried-and-tested ideas.
Here one can only praise the US streaming service Peacock, which launched the series “Mrs. Davis” in April 2023. The completely unpredictable mix of comedy, science fiction and drama is probably the most interesting production of the year – and is now finally available in Germany.
Television can be so crazy
Mrs. Davis – this is the name of an artificial intelligence that has taken the world by storm. Just imagine Siri, only all-powerful. Most people blindly trust Mrs. Davis and do everything the AI tells them to do, but that doesn’t apply to Sister Simone. The nun has several reasons to hate Mrs. Davis and now sets off with her ex-boyfriend Wiley to stop the disembodied entity.
Of course, the AI theme means that “Mrs. Davis” fits perfectly into today’s times, but the real trump card of the series is its almost inexhaustible creativity. Exploding horses, mysterious sports shoes, a medieval festival and magical charlatans await you on every corner.
“Mrs. Davis” was produced by Damon Lindelof, who is best known for “Lost”, but also created real series milestones with “Watchmen” and “The Leftovers”. Just like “The Leftovers”, “Mrs. Davis” has not yet become a hit, but of course this has nothing to do with the quality of the series, but simply with poor marketing.
A second season is therefore unfortunately unlikely, even if Peacock has not yet commented on the matter. Luckily, season 1 already tells a complete and well-rounded story, so a sequel to “Mrs. Davis” isn’t absolutely necessary.
“Mrs. Davis” is a surprise package that you rarely see and you should definitely give it a chance. If you want to get involved in this rollercoaster ride, you can watch all eight episodes of “Mrs. Davis” now on Amazon Prime Video. We hope you enjoy!
