Amazon Prime Video: the programs not to miss in February 2022

In February, Prime Video maintains a good cruising speed. We are curious to see what will give Totemsa French spy series starring Niels Schneider, as well as Reacher, new adaptation of the eponymous hero already camped by Tom Cruise. But in this month of Valentine’s Day, the platform has not forgotten the rom-coms and comes out a slew of them from February 1st.

We will also have the right to the return of Mrs. Maisel for a fourth season, in the entirety of the classic Downtown Abbey and even, for the most nostalgic, to the six seasons ofA boy a girl ! On the film side, quality too, with feature films as varied as Shutter Island, Forrest Gump, AND, The Witch, The Beverly Hills Copor Top Gun. Finally, note the arrival in the catalog of a rather nice animation collection with Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda 3 and Dragons 2among others.

Event of the month: TotemsFebruary 18

An ambitious tricolor series on SVoD platforms, it’s rare enough to be the event of the month, isn’t it? Led by a very fine cast (Niels Schneider, Lambert Wilson, José Garcia, Ana Girardot), Totems takes place in the midst of the Cold War. In the great tradition of French spy thrillers (The Patriots Where The Office of Legends by Éric Rochant in the lead), this series mixes suspense specific to the genre and romance tinged with pretense. We follow a young scientist who has become a spy for the French secret services and the CIA, who falls in love with a pianist working under duress with the KGB. The reconstruction of the 60s seems particularly worked and adapted to the story. We can not wait to see it.

We are curious: ReacherFebruary 4

You may know him as Tom Cruise, here is Jack Reacher again on Prime Video, in a slightly more massive version. It is indeed the impressive Alan Ritchson, seen in particular in Titans, who picked up the role. In the series, Reacher is a former soldier who will find himself on the trail of a serial killer in a small town without history. Nothing very original it must be recognized, but if you like investigations and fluff-pifs, you should find what you are looking for. Especially since Amazon is not at its first attempt in terms of resurrecting heroes on the small screen, already released with Jack Ryan.

Accustomed to stories of gangsters, redemption and New York wanderings, Martin Scorsese has also had the opportunity to move away from his favorite themes during his long and brilliant career. Here is the proof with Shutter Island, a very successful foray into genre film, on the border between psychological thriller and film noir. Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo portray two marshals struggling with the disappearance of a dangerous inmate, all in a sordid setting: an insane asylum perched on an inaccessible island. As one can easily imagine, the latter hides many secrets capable of driving anyone who ventures there crazy. The interpretation is perfect, the photo sublime, and the story captivating… Another classic by Marty.
