Is Amazon causing a bang just before the end of Gamescom? The mail order company is said to be making an offer to take over Publishers Electronic Arts (EA) later today.
At least that’s what USA Today reports, citing sources from the gaming agency GLHF. But the magazine is now rowing back, because the US broadcaster CNBC denies the rumor.
So it remains to be seen which US medium knows the better insiders in this case. Rumors about the sale of EA were already circulating in May, with Apple and Disney as well as Amazon being mentioned as possible buyers.

Amazon has been trying to be a publisher for some time, but hasn’t had any notable successes so far. However, a takeover of EA would bring attractive game brands such as Madden NFL, Need for Speed or Battlefield into Amazon’s portfolio.
