Poles are supposed to make Bezos even richer

Poland has long been one of the last countries in Europe without its own Amazon offer. Now the US company wants to get started there and is already represented by nine logistics centers across the country when the website goes online.

The US online group Amazon has launched its website Amazon.pl with an offer of "over 100 million products". Germany’s neighbor with 38 million inhabitants was one of the last large European countries without an independent Amazon offer.

So far there has only been a Polish-language section on the German Amazon website. Within the EU, Amazon currently operates country-specific websites in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Sweden. In Poland, however, the company already employs around 18,000 people in the IT sector and in logistics centers – a tenth center is to be built in Swiebodzin (Schwiebus) this year.

In Poland, Amazon competes with the domestic market leader Allegro. The company, which links more than 100,000 often small traders directly with around twelve million active buyers, was listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in October.
