Amazon surprised: Suddenly other prices are displayed

At Amazon, it has actually always been the case that discounts for campaigns are shown based on the recommended retail price. That has now changed. For many offers, the last lowest price is displayed, which visibly reduces the savings. But you can see much more clearly how much money you really save.

Amazon shows real price savings

Price comparisons are particularly important on promotional days such as Black Friday or Amazon Prime Day in order to recognize when you are really making a good deal. But you can also get lost in the daily special offers at Amazon quickly dazzled by the high discounts, which are not at all realistic. Amazon has so far always displayed the discount on the recommended retail price, although the price has fallen sharply in the meantime. That has now come to an end – discovered SmartDroid.

If you now look at discounted items, the discount is often no longer displayed compared to the recommended retail price, but the actual discount at the lowest price so far. It then looks like this:

Of course, this means that the discounts are suddenly much smaller than you are used to at Amazon. While Amazon has often advertised discounts of up to 70 percent that have never really been true, Amazon is finally showing the real savings. This is of course a great change for you, because you can see how much money you really save and don’t have to try a price comparison – although of course it’s still worth it.

What you still have to watch out for on Amazon

Not all discounts are displayed according to the new display yet. So you have to look very carefully to see whether the comparison price says “lowest” or the RRP. But this is now very easy to recognize and creates much more transparency.
