Amazon Will Adapt ‘Warhammer 40K’ Series

(Boursier.com) — Amazon , an e-commerce and video-streaming giant, will bring miniature fantasy game ‘Warhammer 40,000’ to screens after the tech giant’s content unit struck a deal with Games Workshop, announced the British game developer on Friday. The deal, the financial details of which were not disclosed, shows Amazon’s willingness to capitalize on a streaming boom. It also follows Amazon’s pricey prequel series to Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ novels (‘The Rings of Power’), which set a September launch record for a Prime Video series. Games Workshop said Amazon would develop its intellectual property in film and television productions, adding that it would also grant merchandising rights to the US company, starting with the ‘Warhammer 40K’ universe.

Games Workshop creates ‘fantasy’ or futuristic tabletop battle games, including ‘Warhammer 40,000’ set in the 41st millennium. The games use the figurines of the group.
