Amber Heard: after 2 years of absence, this trailer marks her big return to the cinema

The trailer for “In the Fire”, Amber Heard’s first film since 2021, has just been revealed.

After Johnny Depp’s return to the cinema last May with Maïwenn’s film, Jeanne du Barry, it is the turn of his ex-wife Amber Heard to return to the cinema after the couple’s highly publicized trial, which gave rise to a film, a documentary series, and the documentary Johnny Depp/Amber Heard Affair – Justice put to the test of social networks.

Absent from the screens since 2021, Amber Heard is back with the thriller In the Fire, which unveils its trailer today.

Directed by Conor Allyn, the film takes place in 1890. Heard plays Grace Burnham, a doctor who travels to an isolated plantation in Colombia to help a troubled young boy (Lorenzo McGovern Zaini), accused of having killed his mother, and his father (Eduardo Noriega). But the priest claims that the child is possessed and accuses him of all the ills of the village. A battle then begins between the inhabitants and the family, between religion and science.

Filmed between the two trials between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, the film already made headlines last June since In the Fire was presented at the opening of the 69th Taormina Festival, in Sicily. This was the actress’s first public appearance at a cinema event since the start of the legal battle.

“This film helped Amber Heard not think about the trial”

Director Conor Allyn declared on the microphone of Deadline : “She started our film right after the British trial, and when she finished our film, she went straight to Virginia for the second trial. Amber is great in the movie and I’m sure it was very difficult with everything else going on.

Anytime you make a film on location, you’re away from the world and we filmed in some pretty remote locations, in southern Italy and Guatemala. Amber’s personality is such that I think she focuses on her work. She was incredibly attentive to what we were doing, rehearsals and everything else. She was fully into her character. I think it helped her take her mind off the upcoming trial, reducing the space available for anxiety.”

No release date has yet been announced for In the Fire. Amber Heard will be in the cast of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom from December 20.
