Judging his trial against Johnny Depp “unfair”, Amber Heard had recently decided to appeal. However, the star of “Aquaman” has decided to finally drop his legal proceedings, as she indicated on Instagram.

Almost eight months after facing her former companion Johnny Depp in court in Fairfax, Virginia, Amber Heard decided, in early December 2022, to appeal of his conviction for defamation. Only a few days after this announcement, Oonagh’s mother Paige Heard announced in a statement posted on her Instagram account that she had taken “a very difficult decision” in finally giving up to embark on a new legal battle: “It’s important for me to say that I never chose that. I stood up for my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of how women are re-victimized when they come forward.”

After his bitter legal battle with Johnny Depp, Amber Heard has decided to go into exile on the island of Majorca, in Spain, in order to escape the media rush. A hubbub which would therefore also have pushed her to give up appealing, as she clarified on the Web: “I am making this decision after losing faith in the US legal system, where my testimony has served as entertainment and media fodder..” And to add:I was exposed to a type of humiliation that I simply cannot experience again. […] Time is precious and I want to use it productively. For too many years I have been locked in arduous and costly legal proceedings, which have proven unable to protect me and my right to freedom of expression.
