During the defamation lawsuit against Johnny Depp, Amber Heard revealed that she spent a large part of her fortune to respond to the legal attacks of her ex-husband.
For Amber Heard, the bill is particularly salty. This May 18, 2022, during the defamation lawsuit brought by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, the 36-year-old actress revealed that she had spent almost all of her fortune in the legal battle she has been waging for six years against the star of Pirates of the Caribbean. She notably revealed that she had liquidated the 7 million paid by Depp after their divorce in 2016, whileshe had announced that she wanted to give them away to charitable works.
Amber Heard’s financial situation was discussed during her cross-examination led by Camille Vasquez, Johnny Depp’s lawyer. “As of today, you have not given $3.5 million to the ACLU. (American Civil Liberties Union, editor’s note). As of today, you haven’t donated $3.5 million to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.“, underlined the magistrate in the face of a crestfallen Heard. “I promised completeness. I couldn’t keep those promises because I’m being sued”defended the star ofAquamanstating that 6 of the 7 million dollars obtained during his divorce had been used to pay his lawyers’ fees.
Amber Heard sues Johnny Depp for $100 million
Offensive, Camille Vasquez pointed out to the actress that the divorce money had been paid to her in 2018, a year before the legal attack by her ex-husband. She could therefore have donated it at the time. “I promised to give everything to associations, because I was never interested in Johnny’s moneyresumed Heard. I just wanted to be safe, to move on, but he got in the way with this lawsuit. I wanted him to leave me alone…“
Unfortunately for Amber Heard, things could still get complicated. Indeed, Johnny Depp is now asking him for 50 million dollars for having damaged his reputation and “ruined his career”. For her part, the actress, who also sued her ex-husband for defamation, is asking him for 100 million dollars in damages.
